The event, held continuously since 1976 on the feast day of Apostle Thomas, takes place in the central square of Zygos in Kavala. It is the highlight of the activities organized by the Pontiac Association of the village. The aim of the event is to revive the customs and traditions of the Pontic wedding, offering traditional dishes such as “keskek” and “pisia”, while also providing entertainment and enjoyment for both residents and visitors. Every year, the Municipality of Kavala organizes a series of cultural events titled “Eleftheria” to celebrate the city’s liberation from Bulgarian forces during the Balkan Wars on June 26, 1913.
